Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has stirred fresh political debate within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) after rejecting a reported endorsement by party leader Oburu Oginga.

According to a Daily Nation notice, Oburu had backed Babu Owino for the position of Secretary General ahead of the party’s upcoming Special National Delegates Conference. However, Babu dismissed the proposal and made his ambitions clear, stating:

“I want to be the Party Leader not Secretary General.”

His remarks have sparked discussion within ODM circles, as they signal a direct challenge to the party’s current leadership structure and succession plans.
