Several Members of Parliament from Meru County have intensified pressure on the national government, calling for the ouster of the Interior Cabinet Secretary over what they term as worsening insecurity linked to escalating banditry in the region.
The lawmakers argued that repeated attacks involving cattle rustling and armed raids have continued to destabilize communities despite ongoing government security operations and assurances.
During recent engagements on the security situation in Meru, the MPs expressed frustration over what they described as slow and ineffective response from the Interior Ministry, insisting that stronger leadership is needed to restore order and protect residents.
The leaders warned that continued insecurity is threatening livelihoods, especially among pastoral and farming communities, and called for urgent and decisive action to end the attacks.
