Nairobi leaders have defended President William Ruto following backlash over his recent sharp remarks targeting opposition figures.
Led by nominated senator Karen Nyamu, the leaders said the President was justified, accusing the opposition of subjecting him to sustained criticism and insults over the past two years.
Speaking during a food distribution event in Nairobi, they argued that Ruto’s response was a reaction to continued attacks, not an unprovoked outburst.
The President’s remarks have drawn criticism from sections of the public and opposition leaders, who say his tone risks deepening political divisions.
However, his allies maintain that he is merely responding to “personality politics” and remains focused on development despite the ongoing political exchanges ahead of the 2027 elections.
