Residents of Nairobi have been urged to prepare for a spell of heavy rainfall expected from Friday through Sunday, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department.

In its latest advisory, the department warned that the downpour could be intense at times, potentially leading to flooding in low-lying areas, poor visibility on roads, and disruptions to normal activities. Motorists have been advised to exercise caution due to slippery roads and possible traffic snarl-ups.

The forecast also raises concerns over drainage systems in parts of the city that are prone to clogging, increasing the risk of flash floods. Residents living in flood-prone zones have been encouraged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions, including clearing drainage channels and avoiding crossing flooded roads.

Emergency response teams have been put on alert, while the public is advised to stay updated through official weather reports and heed any safety directives issued by authorities.
